‘Really good’: David Moyes wowed by one Leeds United player

West Ham United manager David Moyes has raved about Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips in The Times.

Moyes rates the Leeds star highly, and believes that he could form a very good partnership with Declan Rice for England in the middle of the park.

Both Phillips and West Ham midfielder Rice are part of the England squad for the Euro 2020 finals.

Moyes wrote in The Times: “Another with those skills is Kalvin Phillips who for Leeds United this season was really good at working hard to get into himself into space to receive the ball and start attacks. In some games he and Declan could be quite a combination.”

Encouraging

Moyes is a very good and experienced manager who has been a success in the Premier League.

The Scotsman has managed big clubs such as Everton and Manchester United.

Moyes knows a quality player when he sees one.

The Scotsman’s comments about Phillips are very encouraging indeed.

They show just how highly Phillips is rated in the footballing community for the wonderful season he has just had.

The 25-year-old was a key figure for Leeds this past season.

The Leeds star made 28 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League in 2020-21.

The England international midfielder scored one goal and gave two assists in those games.

Phillips will be a key player for England at the Euro 2020 finals.

Leeds fans will hope that the midfielder does well and does his club and country proud.
