Ian Wright has shared that he is ‘really frustrated’ with Gabriel Jesus for missing a now game-changing chance during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Sunday.

With the scores at 1-0, Gabriel Jesus nicked the ball off James Maddison on the edge of Tottenham’s area, with the Arsenal star providing himself with a clear chance to score.

Not only did the 26-year-old fail to hit the back of the net, but he proceeded to blaze his shot well over the bar, which has still left Ian Wright unimpressed, as he told Premier League Productions (25/09/23 at 2:30 pm).

In the end, it proved to be costly because Spurs would go on to equalise in that half, and by the time the full-time whistle blew, the honours were even and the shares were spoilt in the north London derby.

That moment has resulted in many questioning Gabriel Jesus as a goalscorer, including Paul Merson claiming that he and Eddie Nketiah won’t win Arsenal the Premier League title.

Whilst others think that the former Manchester City man has never been a striker, either way, Ian Wright is still unhappy about the whole thing.

Ian Wright’s frustration towards Gabriel Jesus

“He makes me feel really like frustrated,” said Wright. “When you see him go through against Manchester United. That’s clinical finishing.

“When you are finishing and you get yourself in a situation where you have done the hard work. Where is that mindset?

“You are going through there is a lot of time to think about it. Are we saying when he hasn’t got time to think about it he just goes back to winner mentality because when you go through its striker mentality? He has to get there, get the touch right, beat the defender and slot the ball like we saw him do against Manchester United.

“This one, with everything at his mercy, he blasted it. It really makes me wonder why he did that. I was very surprised. I was not expecting him to miss the whole part.”

Big pressure on Gabriel Jesus

All of this has now just put extra pressure on Jesus heading into Arsenal’s next set of fixtures, including the upcoming Manchester City clash.

Given the start Pep Guardiola’s side have made, if more points are dropped, then whilst it doesn’t mean that the Premier League title race is over, it will deflate the fans pretty early on.

Last season, Arsenal managed to miss out on the title, despite having such a commanding lead for long periods.

This time around, Manchester City have started like a house on fire and are trying to win the whole thing by February.
