Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk would be a brilliant signing for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The Sky Sports pundit has been impressed by what he has seen of Mudryk, linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, in the UEFA Champions League.
The former Liverpool defender believes that the 21-year-old winger would be a brilliant addition to the current Arsenal team for the long term.
Carragher has said that it is players like Mudryk that Arsenal need in the long run to transform themselves into regular challengers for the Premier League title and compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the big trophies.
According to Sport Arena, Shakhtar winger Mudryk has agreed personal terms with Arsenal.
CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports has claimed on Twitter that Arsenal have made a second offer, but it is still below €70million (£62 million).
Jamie Carragher on Arsenal target Mykhailo Mudryk
Carragher said: “They’re after Mykhailo Mudryk, when I’ve seen him play in the Champions League, he’s been left wing and Gabriel Martinelli is there right now, he’s been outstanding. Maybe one of them will go through the middle?
“If they want to compete with Manchester City – and they are doing that right now but I’m talking about in all competitions and for the next few years like Liverpool have done – you need options from the bench. Arteta knows that better than anyone from his time at Manchester City.
“I think Mudryk would be a really exciting signing from what we’ve seen in the Champions League.”

Good signing for the Gunners?
In our opinion, Mykhailo Mudryk would be a very good signing for Arsenal and would make the Gunners more potent in attack, not just for now, but for years to come as well.
The winger is very quick and is full of tricks, and his experience of playing in the UEFA Champions League means that he would be not fazed at the prospect of playing for a big club such as Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has scored seven goals in 12 Ukrainian Premier League matches, and has scored three goals and given two assists in six UEFA Champions League games this season.
