Patrick Erras admits that it is ‘really exciting’ to be a free agent with offers on the table from Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers, as reported by Onetz.
A homegrown hero could hardly have bid a more satisfying farewell to the club where he spent his entire professional career.
In his final ever appearance in Nurnburg colours, Erras helped one of the most historic teams in German football avoid relegation into the third tier during a the most dramatic of relegation play-offs, one settled by a 96th minute decider.
Just 24 hours after everyone connected with Nurnburg breathed an almighty sigh of relief, however, Erras was saying goodbye.
His contract expired on Sunday but, with Leeds and QPR holding talks according to BILD, the 6ft 5ins enforcer will not struggle to find employment.
“There are some clubs from home and abroad that are interested (in signing me),” 25-year-old Erras says. “It will be really exciting.”
‘Exciting’ is certainly a word that can be used to describe both Leeds and QPR at present.
After 15 years out of the big time, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United can secure their return to the Premier League in just two days’ time while QPR, despite a dreadful end to the season, have played some of the most free-flowing football in the Championship at times.
If Erras ends up in England, he will find himself at the heart of a midfield full of technique and style.
And who knows, at 6ft 5ins, maybe this towering enforcer could solve Leeds’ problems from dead-ball situations.
