Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared some heartbreaking details of what Harry Kane is going through after missing the penalty against France at the World Cup.
Kane suffered the biggest disappointment of his career in the World Cup quarter-finals as he skied a penalty against France, costing England the chance to take the game to extra-time.
Sadly, disappointment on that stage is bound to bring about backlash from so-called ‘fans’, and this time around, Kane has been the victim of some horrendous abuse and behaviour.
He’s been relentlessly targeted on social media, and according to Gold, some have even gone as far as to send things to his home.

Kane being targeted
Gold shared what he knows about Kane.
“He was at the match and he is starting proper training. I’ve been hearing some horror stories from people that know him. Some of the disgusting things he’s been sent through the post. Honestly, really disgusting things. Just because he missed a penalty, it’s incredible, it’s horrible, horrible, horrible. What would possess you to track down someone’s address and send something, it’s beyond me,” Gold said.
Disgusting
There is no condoning any of this type of behaviour at any time.
Yes, there is a sense of frustration about Kane’s penalty miss, but sending things to his house is way beyond the line of what is acceptable.
At the end of the day, this is still a human being. He didn’t miss on purpose and he’s been a great servant for England for years now.
Football can be a great thing, the greatest in the eyes of some people, but when it turns ugly like this you begin to question why we love this game so much.
Sport can bring out the best in people, but it can also bring out the worst.
