According to The Telegraph, West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign Danny Ings from Aston Villa.

The Hammers certainly need more firepower as they head into the second-half of the season, and Ings could be just what the doctor ordered at the London Stadium.

Indeed, the former Southampton striker has proved time and time again that he knows how to get goals at this level, but don’t just take our word for it.

His former manager at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, shared what he thinks of Ings towards the end of last year, and it’s fair to say that he’s a big fan of the England international.

Klopp hailed Ings

The Liverpool boss spoke highly of Ings ahead of Liverpool’s game against Aston Vila.

“That Ingsy didn’t make it in the end, let me say it like this, here was just because of injuries. And a player at his age needs to and wants to play regularly and we couldn’t offer that in the moment,” Klopp said in his press conference.

“That’s the only reason, the quality was never in doubt, not for a second. He showed it at Southampton, and showing it now at Aston Villa, so that’s clear.

“When he’s on the pitch he’s always a threat, he’s a real goal getter, in a pure sense, and that makes him really dangerous for each opponent.”

Natural goalscorer

This is exactly the type of player West Ham need – someone who can put the ball in the back of the net.

The Hammers have had bad luck in front of goal this season, and if they started taking their chances they wouldn’t be in such a perilous position right now.

Whether or not this deal gets done remains to be seen, but it could be a season-defining move if it goes ahead.
