Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has given his take on controversial VAR incidents in the Premier League matches between Chelsea and West Ham United and Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, as quoted in Football.London.

Spurs boss Conte was not impressed by the controversial VAR calls that went in favour of Chelsea against West Ham at Stamford Bridge in London and against Newcastle in their match against Palace at St. James’ Park.

Late in the London derby today, West Ham’s Maxwel Cornet scored against Chelsea.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy stopped Jarrod Bowen inside the box.

Cornet took a touch and hammered the ball home.

Mendy seemed hurt, and the referee was told by VAR to go to the monitor to review the goal.

The goal was ruled out.

Chelsea went on to win the Premier League match 2-1.

Newcastle had a goal against Palace ruled out.

The match finished in a goalless draw.

Joe Willock was adjudged to have committed a foul on Vicente Guaita, as Tyrick Mitchell put the ball into his own net.

However, replays showed that Mitchell appeared to push Willock into the Palace goalkeeper

Antonio Conte on Chelsea v West Ham & Newcastle v Crystal Palace VAR calls

Conte told Football.London when asked about VAR incidents in Chelsea and Newcastle matches: “You know what I said in the past about the VAR.

“I think to go again is not right but I can tell you only that my hope that they go to improve and try to find the right line of the decision. Because in this moment the line is not the same line and the same vision and this is really dangerous.

“This is really dangerous because in this way you risk to give advantage to some teams and penalise other teams.

“I think the VAR has to be something to help the referees, not to help the referees to make mistakes. Otherwise it is nonsense to have VAR and to use VAR in this way.”
