Roy Keane has criticised Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk on Sky Sports Premier League (7:10pm, August 7, 2022) for his challenge on Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic that cost Jurgen Klopp’s side a goal.
The former Manchester United star was disappointed with Van Dijk for his challenge that saw Liverpool concede a penalty.
Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw with Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Mitrovic scored the second goal for Fulham from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute.
The former Newcastle United striker himself earned the spot kick after Liverpool and Netherlands international central defender Van Dijk committed a foul on him.
Mitrovic also scored Fulham’s first goal in the Premier League match.

Disappointing
In our view, Liverpool were disappointment against Fulham, and Virgil van Dijk is one of the players who did not have a good game.
However, we should not read too much into this.
After all, it was the opening game of the new Premier League season for Liverpool.
And we know that it can take players a few games to get into the rhythm at the start of the season.
Van Dijk is one of the best centre-backs in the world, and the former Celtic star will know that he could have done better against Mitrovic in particular and against Fulham in general.
