FC Barcelona attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly close to a stunning return to the Premier League, with the striker on the verge of signing for Chelsea six months after quitting Arsenal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal to bring the Gabon superstar to west London is close to being completed, with Chelsea set to sign Aubameyang for £10m plus Marcos Alonso, a player Barcelona have been chasing for the majority of the summer.
Aubameyang infamously quit Arsenal in January of this year after the attacker was stripped of the captaincy and frozen out of the squad, with the Gunners releasing the forward from his contract in order for the 33-year-old to sign for Barcelona, who eight months later are now close to selling to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The move will sting greatly for Arsenal given the Blues’ desperate need for a striker and the world-class quality Aubameyang gives Thomas Tuchel’s side, with this deal arguably one that could catapult Chelsea back up the Premier League and well into the title race.
Chelsea signing Aubameyang could be the club’s best move in years

Chelsea’s transfer record is mixed, to say the least, from wasting close to £100m on Romelu Lukaku to spending £72m on Kai Havertz without really knowing his best position, the Blues’ mismanagement in the window is quite remarkable, yet that won’t be the case for Aubameyang.
Whilst the striker is in his twilight, Chelsea are landing a guaranteed goalscorer who Tuchel knows how to get the best of, with Arsenal fans no doubt reeling from their former captain signing for a London rival so soon after leaving the club in dramatic fashion in January.
