Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared some of his observations from the press box as Tottenham faced Manchester United this week.
Spurs were abysmal at Old Trafford in midweek, losing 2-0 in a spineless display, and Conte was far from happy with one player during the game.
Indeed, according to Gold, Conte was furious with Rodrigo Bentancur at Old Trafford, stating that the manager was screaming at the midfielder in Italian, even going as far as to swear at him.

Conte fuming with Bentancur
“There was one point when Conte got really angry at Bentancur for being really hesitant on the ball and he was shouting in Italian ‘pass the ball, pass the ball’, and then he shouted a word at him that translates into English to a word that rhymes with ‘thick head’ you can probably guess what I’m talking about,” Gold said.
Wasn’t good enough
It’s not all that surprising to hear that Bentancur got a dressing down from Conte at Old Trafford at the weekend. Quite simply, he wasn’t good enough.
Negative passing, hesitancy on the ball and a lack of energy, the Uruguayan was well below-par against Manchester United.
Spurs absolutely lost the midfield battle against the Red Devils on Wednesday, and we have to imagine that Conte gave him another talking to in the dressing room after the game.
It remains to be seen whether or not Bentancur keeps his starting spot for the game against Newcastle on Sunday, but if he doesn’t buck his ideas up, Spurs will struggle massively to compete against the likes of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes in the middle of the park this weekend.
