Stan Collymore has suggested that Burnley manager Vincent Kompany could try to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool striker has written in CaughtOffside that Kompany could be ambitious with Burnley in the Premier League and could try to convince Chelsea striker Lukaku to move to Turf Moor.

Burnley will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship.

Lukaku is on loan at Inter Milan at the moment.

The £350,000-a-week (SalarySport) Belgium international striker is scheduled to return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of the season.

Stan Collymore suggests Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku for Burnley

Collymore wrote: “If he fancies staying in the Premier League, apart from potentially being offered to West Ham in a part-ex deal for Rice, I wonder if Vincent Kompany may ask the Burnley board to have a go.

“Kompany knows Lukaku very well, not only from playing against him in the Premier League but also from their time representing Belgium together.

“I’m not saying it will happen, but I could definitely see the newly-promoted club trying something really ambitious.”

Summer transfer unlikely

In our view, Romelu Lukaku will not join Burnley in the summer transfer window.

No way.

Yes, the striker may not be at Chelsea next season, but we do not think that the former Manchester United star will move to Burnley.

After all, the Clarets are not going to challenge for major honours or play in the UEFA Champions League.

And despite how well they did in the Championship this season, there is a chance that the Clarets would be fighting for survival in the Premier League.

Lukaku has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, and we do not think that the 29-year-old will fancy a switch to Burnley.

Yes, Lukaku and Kompany know each other, but that does not mean that the striker would be willing to switch to Burnley.
