Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly tried and failed to sign Amadou Diawara from Serie A giants Napoli.

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans perhaps have been a little spoiled of late – and who could blame them?
A club who was signing players like Joe Mason and Ben Marshall three years ago are now used to seeing established internationals and European wonderkids make the move to Molineux.
Since Nuno Espirito Santo took over in 2017, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio and Raul Jimenez have all arrived in the Black Country, helping to established a previously underachieving club back amongst the Premier League’s elite.
But that does not mean that Wolves can sign everyone and anyone.
According to Sky Italia, Amadou Diawara has rejected the chance to leave Napoli for Wolves this summer as he is holding out for a move to Roma instead.
Given that the 21-year-old is one of the most talented young defensive midfielders in European football – and available for just £16 million (CalcioNapoli24) – this has understandably not gone down too well with Wolves fans.

Now, Roma might be one of the most historic and well supported clubs in Europe but that does not mean they are a better destination than Wolves.
The Giallorossi are a club in crisis right now with divisions behind the scenes and many fans deeply unhappy about the direction of one of Italy’s great sides.
Wolves, meanwhile, are on the rise and Diawara could have played a big role in a very exciting project at Molineux.
