Werder Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt is increasingly confident that Milot Rashica will stay at the Bundesliga outfit despite interest from Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, while speaking to BuliNews.

Not so long ago, the Kosovo international was one of the most coveted players in the market, attracting admiring glances from the likes of Liverpool, AC Milan and Champions League semi-finalists RB Leipzig.

But with Jurgen Klopp ruling out any big-money signings, Milan cancelling their Ralf Rangnick experiment and Leipzig unwilling to meet Rashica’s £23 million price-tag (BILD), all the signs now suggest that the winger will be wearing green when 2020/21 kicks off.

Kicker claimed that Villa and Wolves had both made offers in June but the trail has grown cold since then.

“We are now at a point in our pre-season, where I’ve discussed the situation with everyone at the club. From now on, I’ll prepare for the first matchday as if Milot Rashica will play,” says Kohfeldt, striking a far more positive tone a fortnight ago when the Werder talisman was left out of a pre-season clash and his exit seemed inevitable.

“It’s absolutely a realistic possibility that Milot will play on the first Bundesliga matchday (on September 19th). Maybe he will still be here on October 6 (when the window shuts).”

Why Aston Villa and Wolves appear to have cooled their interest is anyone’s guess. But we can make an educated estimation.

Perhaps Villa no longer feel the need to bring in a big-money attacker with captain fantastic Jack Grealish expected to stick around.

Meanwhile, at Molineux, January signing Daniel Podence stepped up remarkably during the final few weeks of the season. Rashica would have played pretty much the same inverted wide role under Nuno.
