Laurent Koscielny has admitted that he cannot wait to see former team-mate Mesut Ozil back on the pitch again, be it at Arsenal or for somebody else.

Ozil has dominated headlines from North London over the past week or so.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta left him out of his revised Premier League squad and with Ozil also ineligible for the Europa League, it’s possible that Gunners fans have seen the last of him.

The decision has divided supporters and although many back Arteta’s strong stance on the matter, others believe that the 32-year-old – a World Cup winner – could still be an asset on a footballing level.

Koscielny played alongside the enigmatic playmaker for six years at the Emirates Stadium.

And the French defender says that his ex-team-mate is simply a ‘phenomenon’ who he wants to see play football again.

He told L’Equipe: “I hope to see him back on the pitch soon, at Arsenal or elsewhere, because he is real talent.

“As a player, he is in my opinion a phenomenon. He can find passes that no one sees, he’s a maestro. He can rock a game with incredible passes.”

The Bordeaux star is right because Ozil, on his day, is unplayable.

Thing is, he has four assists in the Premier League since Arsene Wenger left Arsenal three seasons ago, illustrating that ‘his day’ doesn’t come around too often any longer and truthfully, Arteta was probably right to cut ties.
