Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool remain interested in the Burnley striker.
La Liga side Real Sociedad have confirmed that they are very unlikely to get their hands on Burnley striker Danny Ings this summer. The England under-21 striker is out of contract in the summer after impressing in the Premier League. He has been linked with moves to the Spanish club, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has had this to say about the player, as reported by Sky Sports:
“We have monitored him since the winter transfer market. But we have not spoken to Ings’ entourage for almost a month now.
“I don’t think he’s an easy candidate to arrive to La Real. He has a lot of offers from England and we will have to wait to see what he decides. But it looks highly unlikely that he will join us.”
This will come as a good news to both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, who now appear to be in a straight shoot-out for his signature.
At the end of last month it was reported that Spurs may make a bid for Ings, in order to beat Liverpool to his signature when his contract expired.
But this week, as reported by The Independent, Ings opened transfer talks with Liverpool over a move. He is believed to be far more keen on a move to Anfield than White Hart Lane.
Liverpool need a striker after the injury troubles of Daniel Sturridge and the poor form of recent signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert.
Tottenham meanwhile have Harry Kane banging in the goals but Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor anonymous by comparison. Ings and Kane have a healthy partnership at Under-21 level and Mauricio Pochettino would love to partner them for Spurs.
