Jamie Carragher has claimed that Leeds United’s goal difference is a ‘real problem’ for them in their relegation fight with Everton and Burnley, as he told Sky Sports.

The Sky pundit added that when he spoke with Jurgen Klopp last Friday, he told him that the ‘only good thing’ about a relegation battle is that the teams around you hardly win.

That has proven to be the case for Everton, Leeds and Burnley this season, as well as the soon-to-be doomed duo of Watford and Norwich City.

Whilst the latter two can still mathematically survive the dreaded drop to the Championship, in truth, their fate is already probably be sealed.

Nonetheless, this is what Carragher had to say regarding the relegation battle and what Klopp told him.

“We talk about five points (for Leeds), and it is a healthy lead at this stage of the season, certainly over Everton,” said Carragher.

“What they will be hoping for is the goal difference because that is a real problem for them. There is no way Burnley or Everton are going to get anywhere near Leeds’ goal difference.

“I interviewed Jurgen Klopp and he spoke about when he used to manage in the relegation zone.

“He said ‘the only good thing is that the teams around you never normal win’, so even when you are down there. Getting points (even a draw) is vital.”

It would be interesting if either Everton or Burnley fans would take having to win on the final game of the Premier League season to survive.

At the rate the duo are going at, they are both heading towards a final day shootout.

Of course, Leeds can’t be ruled out, especially given they are yet to play three of the current Premier League’s top-four.

Their aim is to make sure they don’t need anything on the final day to survive because their nerves will seriously hit the roof if that’s the case.
