Many Tottenham Hotspur fans felt they were in for another season of the same after the opening day defeat to Everton at home. Spurs looked poor against the Toffees and were arguably lucky to lose by just one goal.

Jose Mourinho came in for flak after the game, but that’s a distant memory now. Spurs haven’t lost in the Premier League since and currently sit top of the table.

The Spurs manager’s system is no longer viewed as ugly or negative by supporters. The side looks incredible in attack and, like every Mourinho side over the years, have been solid at the back too.

The highlight of Spurs’ season so far must be their most recent victory. Mourinho outclassed Pep Guardiola as Tottenham comfortably beat Manchester City thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso.

Guardiola – regarded by many as the master tactician – had no answers to the Mourinho magic on Sunday. The Spurs boss was just as animated as his arch-rival on the touchline too, and the fans loved it.

Tottenham’s official Twitter handle posted a three-and-a-half minute video (below) of their manager’s reactions on the touchline. It’s safe to say, Mourinho is well and truly back.

Mourinho didn’t look angry, even when Spurs lost the ball. He urged Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier to get back into a defensive position and lauded Sergio Reguilon for recovering the ball at the end of that move.

The Tottenham boss also spotted Gabriel Jesus’s handball long before referee Mike Dean. Manchester City had equalised, but VAR agreed with Mourinho and the goal was disallowed.

Tottenham fans loved the clip.

Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter to the video
