Real Madrid have reportedly made Dusan Vlahovic their first-choice target to replace Karim Benzema, with Arsenal also interested in signing the Juventus talisman.

According to AS, Los Blancos have identified the Serbian international as the ‘perfect replacement’ for the reigning Ballon d’Or holder, with Madrid expected to make signing a Benzema successor one of their main goals of the summer transfer window, with Vlahovic in their sights.

The Serie A attacker has been in excellent form for Juventus this season, however, given the Turin side’s ongoing financial situation and sporting crisis, the Old Lady could be forced to sell some of their biggest names in the summer, with Madrid expected to capitalise on this to sign Vlahovic.

The European giants do face some obstacles, though, with CalcionMercatoWeb reporting that Arsenal are also interested in the 23-year-old striker, alongside Tottenham, though Tutto Juve claims that Vlahovic will be priced at an incredible £91m for any potential buyers.

Replacing a player as important as Benzema will always be an expensive task for Madrid, though with Carlo Ancelotti’s side deciding on Vlahovic as the man to next carry the torch, £91m could be a fee worth paying, especially given how good the attacker is.

Moreover, with Arsenal pretty set on their striking options in Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, the Gunners are seemingly in a position where they will not spend big on a striker in the summer, with an older, more experienced head for cheap the more likely option for the north London side.

Madrid could have free shot at signing Vlahovic in the summer

As mentioned, whilst Arsenal have been linked with Vlahovic for quite some time, the Premier League leaders are realistically in a position where they don’t need to blow the bank on a striker, with central midfield arguably the more important priority. And as a result, Madrid could have a free shot at signing the Serbian.

Indeed Juventus could lower their asking price for Vlahovic if they financial situation worsens between now and the summer. And for Madrid, they know they will have no problems in trying to persuade the attacker to join the club given their world-class reputation.
