Eden Hazard reportedly intends to run down his Real Madrid contract in 2024 before moving on from the Spanish giants, with Newcastle United believed to be interested in the winger.
According to the Athletic, the 32-year-old attacker has made his mind up that he wishes to stay with Real until the end of his deal next year, even with Hazard not even being a regular starter for Madrid and one of the club’s highest-paid players.
As per the report, Hazard is settled in Madrid with his son even a part of Los Blancos’ academy, and as a result, the likes of Newcastle could now face a next-to-no chance of signing the attacker with his heart set on staying with the La Liga side for the next 12 months.
ESPN have reported that Eddie Howe’s side are interested in signing Hazard, though following this latest update coupled together with the attacker’s injury problems and overall lack of form, Newcastle would be wasting time and money pursuing a deal for the former Belgian international in the upcoming summer window.

Moreover, with Hazard one of the top earners at Real, it would take some effort from Newcastle to convince the winger to leave Madrid on his current contract for a return to the Premier League, even with the Magpies one of the richest clubs in the world and able to match most financial demands.
Indeed, with Hazard setting his career objectives straight, Newcastle can now move on from the former Chelsea superstar ahead of the summer transfer window, with the 32-year-old always a player who would have been an odd signing for the northeast side.
Hazard could be taking a risk with latest Real Madrid contract decision

Hazard’s logic behind staying at Madrid makes sense from a personal point of view, with the winger’s family settled in Spain and his son now a part of the club’s academy. Yet for his footballing career, the attacker could regret choosing to stay for another year where he is unlikely to play much football.
GIven how good Hazard can be on his day, the attacker deciding not to find a club that could get the best out him is a strange one, to say the least, and the decision to stay on his huge contract will be one that many supporters disagree with.
