Arsenal pulled off one of the best signings of the summer in Nicolas Pepe but could they have signed another winger too?

The teenager only joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 but, with the amount of competition at the Spanish capital, Arsenal reportedly tried their luck.
New Gunners technical director Edu Gaspar took the offer to the Galacticos according to the report but his attempt was shut down immediately.
The club have reportedly told Vinicius that they will keep a close eye on his development and have encouraged him to show his worth with the first-team. However, with the arrival of Eden Hazard in the summer, the Brazilian will find it incredibly difficult to get as much game time as he would like.
Vinicius played 36 times for Real Madrid last season in all competitions, scoring seven goals and setting up a hugely impressive 13 more.
20 direct goal contributions in 36 games for a teenager in his first season in Europe is a phenomenal return and Arsenal were smart to try their luck in the summer.

Unai Emery’s side pulled off one of the biggest deals in Europe with the signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille for a club-record fee. The Ivorian has already shown glimpses of what he is capable of but he is yet to get off the mark after two starts.
The idea of Vinicius along with Pepe would have been incredibly exciting for Arsenal fans but missing out on the Real Madrid man opens up the door for the likes of Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka which is a massive positive for the club’s academy.
