Real Madrid have an agreement with Kylian Mbappe to join next summer, and it now remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will be sold by Paris Saint-Germain or run down his contract.

Mbappe has one year left on his contract at PSG, which he does not intend to renew, and it has now been revealed that an agreement is in place for the 24-year-old to join Los Blancos.

A report from Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato has claimed that PSG want to sell Kylian Mbappe for a major fee this summer, rather than losing him for free, and that Mbappe has already agreed to join Real Madrid next year.

There has been no contact between Real Madrid and PSG over a potential deal this summer, and PSG want to negotiate from a position of strength over their star attacker.

Will Real Madrid pay for Mbappe now?

Given that an agreement has been found with the player for next year anyway, Real find themselves in a strong position.

Unless they are desperate for Mbappe to join now, they hold the cards when it comes to negotiating with PSG over a potential transfer.

It seems unlikely that they will be willing to stretch to PSG’s reported asking price of €180m, but if they are keen to replace Karim Benzema immediately, they could try and negotiate a lower-priced deal.

Mbappe seemingly has his sights set on Real Madrid, so despite PSG’s desire to sell him now, he may be more than happy to spend one more year in Paris, whilst also collecting a potential €90m loyalty bonus for reaching the end of his contract.

The World Cup winner would be one of Real Madrid’s biggest marquee signings in years if it happens, and he could form a front three with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo to lead European football for the foreseeable future.

PSG meanwhile, are keen to end their own ‘Galactico’ project. Superstars Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi have already left, whilst Neymar and Mbappe are also set for the exit door as they attempt to change the culture at the club.
