Tottenham Hotspur suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Europa League last night, but it seems that Luka Modric was not too disappointed.

Spurs went down 3-0 to Dinamo Zagreb away from home in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie on Thursday evening.

The result meant that Tottenham were knocked out of the competition 3-2 on aggregate, having won the first leg 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Modric, now at Real Madrid, is a former Spurs player, and while some fans of the North London club would have expected him to be disappointed at the result, he was rather overjoyed, as the following post on Instagram shows.

The reason is that the 35-year-old Croatia international midfielder started his professional club football at Dinamo before moving to Spurs in 2008.

Tottenham will now have to bounce back and not dwell too much on their defeat on Thursday evening.

Spurs still have a very good chance of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table.

However, pressure is now on Tottenham, as, unlike their bitter North London rivals Arsenal, they no longer have the Europa League route to get into the Champions league.
