Rams fans finally got a chance to take a prolonged look at him, with the Spanish midfielder selected from the start in the club’s win over Blackpool.
The 1-0 win was enough to take Derby to the top of the table, with striker Chris Martin scoring the only goal.
Mascarell was impressive in central midfield, laying down a marker to retain his place in the side.

The 21-year-old created a chance and won two tackles, completing a high ratio of his passes. His 116 touches of the ball was a team high, and far more than Blackpool’s most touch-heavy player, David Perkins, managed with 59.
It was the fourth highest number of touched made by any player in a single game in the Championship this season, and second most of any midfielder.
