Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are facing renewed competition from Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid for AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to FootMercato.
The French news outlet have reported Liverpool have been leading the race for Tchouameni for a while now, and that manager Klopp personally wants to bring the midfielder to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool are reportedly ready to pay the transfer fee that AS Monaco want, but Spanish and European giants Real Madrid are now back ‘in force’ for the youngster and have made new contact with his entourage.
Madrid, who will face Liverpool in the Champions League final later this month, are now trying to convince the 22-year-old move to Santiago Bernanbeu, and not Anfield, according to the report.
Liverpool or Real Madrid for Aurelien Tchouameni?
In our opinion, it is going to be hard for Aurelien Tchouameni to make a pick between Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Both are massive clubs, global brands, and footballing giants.

It could come down to where Tchouameni – described by former Tottenham Hotspur director of football Paul Mitchell in Tuttosport in December 2021 as “a complete midfielder” who is “very fast and physically strong” – thinks he would develop more as a footballer.
After all, the France international is only 22, and he is still not the finished article.
Tchouameni has made 32 starts and three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 this season.
The youngster has scored three goals and given two assists in those games.
