Valdano considered Tottenham’s Kane as a new signing at Real.
Real Madrid legend Jorge Valdano has told German newspaper SportBild that Julien Lopetegui’s side should sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane over Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
Kane, 24, has long been linked with a move to the Spanish giants and although he has signed a new contract in north London prior to the World Cup, a move is always possible.
The former Millwall, Norwich City and Leyton Orient loanee has shown just what he is capable of at the World Cup this summer, currently topping the goalscoring charts after just two games.
He scored a brace against Tunisia and a hat-trick against Panama, before facing Belgium on Thursday night and Valdano believes Kane is the best option for Real – above Poland captain Lewandowski.
“If I was responsible for Real, then I would sign Harry Kane. He is five years younger than Lewandowski – and yet he could handle the brutal pressures that reigns at Real,” Valdano said.
“That’s my assessment, he is already very mature. He is also an incredible executor. He would help Real.”

Kane has been excellent once again during the 2017-18 season, finding the back of the net 41 times in just 48 league and cup outings as Spurs finished in an impressive third place in the Premier League.
The England captain is certainly in the top bracket of strikers in World football alongside the likes of Lewandowski, but Valdano believes Kane is better than the Pole who earns £139,000 a week at Bayern (Guardian).
