Real Madrid have seemingly handed the likes of Liverpool their biggest boost yet in the race to sign Jude Bellingham, with Los Blancos unwilling to match Borussia Dortmund’s current asking price for the midfielder.

According to Defensa Central, Madrid president Florentino Perez will only go as high as €120m (£105m) to bring Bellingham to the Spanish capital, with the report stating that this is well below Dortmund’s valuation of €150m (£120m) for the England star.

With Liverpool one of the leading clubs in the race to sign Dortmund, Madrid’s latest stance on the 19-year-old could be viewed by many as a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who remain keen on bringing the midfielder to Anfield next summer.

Bellingham has been one of the stars of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Madrid being linked with the youngster as a result. However, this latest report has handed Liverpool their biggest confidence boost that the Merseyside giants can win the race for the Birmingham-born superstar.

Although Manchester City and PSG remain interested in Bellingham as reported by Le10Sport, Madrid dropping out of the race is massive for Liverpool. And whilst there’s every chance that Dortmund can again increase the teenager’s asking price, Los Blancos’ unwillingness to go beyond £105m could change a lot about this saga.

Indeed, Liverpool will be desperate to sign Bellingham in 2023, especially after the midfielder’s performances out in Qatar with England. And Madrid’s stance could give Klopp the confidence needed to go all out for the Dortmund wonderkid in the summer.

Madrid had long been viewed by pundits and Liverpool supporters as the Reds’ main rivals for Bellingham. However, this latest update could set up a straight battle between Klopp’s side and City for the Dortmund star, with the Anfield giants potentially having the edge over their Premier League rivals.

After all, Bellingham has struck up a good relationship with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson at the World Cup. And with the midfielder also seemingly getting along with Trent Alexander-Arnold, there’s every chance that the duo could convince the 19-year-old to head to Merseyside in the summer.
