Arsenal wanted to sign Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio before the transfer deadline, even offering £34million to sign him.

The Gunners signed one creative player from Real before the transfer deadline with Martin Odegaard joining Arsenal permanently.

It now seems that Edu wanted another Real player, offering £34million for Asensio according to Spanish media outlet Cadena SER.

Real rejected the bid, with Carlo Ancelotti telling Asensio that he would play a big role at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

Asensio trying to get back on track

Asensio, now 25, was once a wonderkid for Real having emerged as a huge talent from Mallorca.

Injuries have taken their toll on Asensio, but he’s trying to get back to top form under Ancelotti.

With three goals in six league goals, Asensio is starting to show that he can still make an impact for Real.

A left-footed winger, Asensio doesn’t quite make sense for Arsenal given that they already have Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe.

Still, it seems that Edu and Mikel Arteta wanted to bring Asensio to North London, only to be blocked.

Real fans react to Arsenal’s Asensio bid

Real Madrid fans have seen the claims and appear baffled that the club rejected the offer instead of selling Asensio.

Some believe this was a very good offer, and think they should have sold Asensio to raise funds for other signings.

Others are even begging Arsenal to come back and make a new bid for Asensio.

Some can’t even believe that Arsenal offered more for Asensio than they did for Odegaard, even adding that they would rather keep Odegaard.
