Speaking on the Spurs Web YouTube channel, Michael Dawson has given his honest verdict on Gareth Bale’s comments this week.
The winger has been very honest about the fact he plans on returning to Real Madrid at the end of the season, and Dawson thinks that it’s a real shame that he won’t be staying next term.
“He’s a great kid and I was delighted to see him come back, but unfortunately he’s not hit the heights he set for himself the first time around,” Dawson said.
“I always said that if he got a run of games we’d start seeing the best of him, and we did. The West Ham game he came on and changed the game, and then he did well in Europe, and then he had another few games, and then a dip and a bad result and Gareth’s out again.
“I feel for him that he’s not had that run of consistency, because I’ve been in a team where you get dragged down and it’s not your fault.
“It’s been hard for him, and when results aren’t right, and you’re chopping and changing. Obviously, everything that’s come out at the weekend, it was great for fans to see him come back, but it looks like he’ll be going back to Real Madrid with what Gareth’s saying, and that’s a real disappointment, because I do believe he still has an awful lot to offer.”
It is a massive shame that Bale may not be at Tottenham next term.
The new stadium would be absolutely rocking if fans were able to soak in Bale’s return this term, but as we all know, that’s not been able to happen.
Bale is still a quality player, and as Dawson says, he still has a lot to offer, but purely from a sentimental point of view, it’s a shame that fans won’t get to enjoy watching Bale in the flesh at the new stadium.
