Tim Cahill has hailed the impact Dominic Calvert Lewin and Diogo Jota have had on Everton and Liverpool, respectively this season.

The Australian told Kings of the Premier League on Sky Sports that Jota has been ‘exceptional’ for Liverpool, whilst Everton’s hitman has become a ‘real big player’ for both club and country this season.

At the start of the season, not many would have expected both players to be hitting the back of the net as much as they have done.

Calvert-Lewin is currently the top marksman in the Premier League, whilst Jota has been running riot in the league and in the Champions League since his move from Wolves, as Cahill praised both.

“For DCL, the leading goalscorer in the Premier League,” said Cahill. “We are talking about Jota and the impact he has had on Liverpool. The way that he’s playing. The goals that he has scored. Exceptional. I will definitely heap praise on a player like that.

“But, DCL, another player. Maturing. Carlo Ancelotti is simplifying his game. He’s getting the goals. Okay, Everton haven’t been great with the results.

“But I think a real big player for Everton and England.”

It’s been four years since Everton paid Sheffield United only £1.5 million for Calvert-Lewin’s services [Sky Sports], who was a teenager when he made the switch from Yorkshire to Merseyside.

Carlo Ancelotti has completely transformed Calvert-Lewin’s performance since he was appointed by the Goodison Park outfit.

Week in and week out, Calvert-Lewin would put in 7/10 performances, but he wouldn’t have the goals to his name to match his performances on the pitch.

But Ancelotti has added efficiency to his game and this deadly poachers instinct, which has turned him into one of the most feared forwards in the division.
