Chelsea-owned Reading midfielder Lewis Baker has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that he wants to do well against his former club Leeds United this week.

Leeds will take on Reading away from home at the Madejski Stadium in the Championship on Tuesday evening.

Baker is likely to feature in the match for the Royals, and the former England Under-21 international has given his take on his loan spell at Elland Road this season.

Stats

The 23-year-old midfielder – who earns £20,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – joined Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Chelsea in the summer of 2018.

Much was expected of Baker when he arrived at Elland Road, but the Englishman failed to make a massive impact at the West Yorkshire outfit.

According to WhoScored, the midfielder made only two starts and nine substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds.

Baker was recalled by Chelsea in the January transfer window, and the midfielder subsequently moved to Leeds’s Championship rivals Reading until the end of the season.

Facing Leeds United

Baker told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “There’s definitely an incentive (to do well against Leeds) but I don’t have any grudges or anything like that. I’m just focused on where I am now and where I need to get to.

“It’s not a thing where I feel like I need to get revenge on the club because they were actually fantastic. It just didn’t work out for me on the pitch, so no grudges.”
