Reading’s Chris Gunter is seemingly available for transfer.

According to a report by Get Reading, Royals defender Chris Gunter has been the subject of several loan offers from fellow Championship clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer deadline.
The report states that Reading want to offload Gunter this summer, but with only a year remaining on his contract it’s likely the Royals would want a permanent exit now as they seek to comply with FFP rules.
Gunter is Reading’s longest-serving player, joining from Nottingham Forest in 2012.
The 30-year-old is versatile and can play in several defensive roles. He has made over 230 Championship appearances for the Royals, having previously signed in the Premier League.
Reading’s reported financial troubles means they still seek to cut their squad this summer. Marc McNulty has been allowed to join Sunderland on loan, while Adrian Popa and Gareth McCleary are still under contract.

Gunter still has the ability to feature regularly at Championship level, but clubs may be wary of offering him a long-term deal due to his age and lack of action last season.
Reading started their Championship campaign with a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Manager Jose Gomes will no doubt be seeking to add more to his squad this week but getting players out the door first could be his biggest priority.
