Spurs are 11 points back from Manchester City who are in fourth position.
Midfielder Moussa Sissoko is not giving up and hopes Spurs can get back on track and land a top four place, securing a Champions League spot for next season.
Sissoko told The Telegraph: “Of course we are far, far behind the top four, but the season is long and we can still win a lot of games.
“It will not be easy but we know we have the qualities to do it. When we come back [after the international break] we will try to catch the teams in front of us and see where we are at the end of the season.”
Missing out on a Champions League place would be galling for Spurs after reaching the final last season.
It is made tougher by the strong form of Leicester City, who currently sit in second place and have a settled side.
Tottenham need to work out their best XI, at present they can’t, and it is becoming a big problem for Mauricio Pochettino.
Spurs fans are not buying into Sissoko’s comments and believe a top four place may already be out of their grasp…
