Arsenal will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16 for the third time in five seasons.
Arsenal will play German giants Bayern Munich for the fourth time in five Champions League campaigns, after the two were drawn together in the Round of 16.

Despite topping Group A without losing a single game, Arsenal have been paired against the 2013 European champions in what promises to be an entertaining encounter – as recent history would support.

Indeed, since February 2013 the two clubs have faced off in the Champions League a total of six times, a fact not lost on Twitter – with Arsenal winning on two occasions, Bayern three and a 1-1 draw in March 2014.

The last meeting between the teams was a 5-1 drubbing of Arsenal by Pep Guardiola’s Bayern side – with goals from Robert Lewandowski, David Alaba, Arjen Robben and a double from Thomas Muller.

In the aftermath of the draw for the February 2017 tie, Twitter was awash with reaction – ranging from optimism through to pessimism, for Arsene Wenger’s side’s chances of success.

Here’s a taste of some of the reaction to the Gooners’ Round of 16 draw, including an update on the three certainties in life, belief in an Arsenal curse, and even a message from the future – curtesy of an alien.
