New Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino should consider linking up with Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente again.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino should make a bid to sign Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente on loan for next season.
Pellegrino was announced as the new Southampton manager, as he replaces Claude Puel who was sacked earlier this month. The 45-year-old enjoyed a successful single season in charge with Spanish side Deportivo Alaves.
The Argentine guided the club to a ninth place finish in La Liga as well as the Spanish Cup final, where they lost to Barcelona in their first season back in the Spanish top flight.
One player who was a mainstay in Pellegrino’s overachieving team last season was 22-year-old Llorente. The defensive midfielder joined Alaves on a season-long loan deal and he impressed highly. He played 38 games for the club.
Llorente ended the season with impressive stats, recobering the ball more than any other player in the division. Despite this, another loan spell away from the Spanish capital is likely to happen next season, as Brazilian defensive midfielder Casemiro played a key role for Madrid last season and it is not unlikely that Llorente would be able to trouble him for his place in the Los Blancos first team.
Marcos Llorente is a product of the Real Madrid academy
It remains to be seen whether Llorente is a part of the long term plans of Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. However, it is clear that warming the bench at the Barnabeu won’t help his development.
Llorente is currently a part of the Spain U21 team competing in the European Championships. When the tournament is over, he will be keen to arrange a move where he can get more first-team games under his belt.
Moving to England would be good experience for Llorente as he looks to develop his game further. If he was to link up with Pellegrino again, he could become a key figure at Southampton as they look ahead to a brighter future under their new manager.
