Celtic have confirmed that they have agreed a deal to sign defender Marvin Compper, and his former side have sent him a message on social media.

RB Leipzig have taken to Twitter to thank Marvin Compper and wish him luck following his move to Scottish Premiership champions Celtic that will come into effect on the 1st of January.

Although Compper had not been a regular for RB Leipzig this term, he has certainly been an excellent servant for the club over the last three years, helping them to promotion to the top flight in 2016 and then establishing themselves at the highest level and proving Bayern Munich’s nearest challengers last year.

So it is perhaps hardly a surprise that his soon to be former club have taken to social media to wish the one-time Germany international the best of luck following his switch to Parkhead.
The fact that RB Leipzig think so highly of the defender is surely a sign that will encourage the Celtic supporters who know little about their newest addition.
Brendan Rodgers’ defence arguably needs further depth and bringing someone in of his experience and quality should give the Hoops the strength they need as they look to continue competing on the European stage while trying to maintain their domestic dominance.
