Everton’s reported pursuit of Jean-Kevin Augustin could be boosted.
RB Leipzig are facing a big summer, as Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann will finally take charge of the club having agreed a move last summer.
Nagelsmann will be charged with the task of taking Leipzig forward again, and that may well involve bringing in another striker as additional firepower.
The Daily Mail claim that Leipzig are interested in signing Tammy Abraham, who has been banging goals in for Aston Villa this season whilst on loan from Chelsea.
Abraham would be joining the likes of Timo Werner and Yussuf Poulsen if he ended up at Leipzig, and whether it’s him or another striker targeted, it may spell the end for Jean-Kevin Augustin.
Augustin, 21, has only started three league games this season as it is, and adding Abraham to the mix would only serve to push him further down the pecking order – and closer to the exit.
The Frenchman has been strongly linked with Everton, and Calciomercato claim that he is their top striker target for the summer, as Marco Silva and Marcel Brands chase attacking reinforcements.
Augustin, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, has great pace and technical ability, and showed his quality with 12 goals last season. He certainly fits the bill for Brands as a young forward with huge potential, who may be better off at Everton where he would valued, than as a bit-part player at Leipzig.
Signing Villa hero Abraham – or another striker – would surely spell the end for Augustin at Leipzig, and it would be little surprise to see Everton swoop in to land their man in that scenario.
