Leeds United continue to be active in the transfer market – but two situations involving RB Leipzig don’t look too great.
The first one surrounds striker Jean-Kevin Augustin, who joined Leeds on loan from Leipzig during the January transfer window.
Leeds agreed to take the Frenchman on loan in an ambitious move, but the deal including a clause in which Augustin would be signed permanently if Leeds won promotion.
The 23-year-old managed just three appearances for Leeds, and seemingly failed to earn Marcelo Bielsa’s trust during his time at Elland Road.
Leeds have since signed Rodrigo in a big-money move, seemingly making it clear that they are trying to escape the terms of their Augustin move.
Now, Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has told RB Live that he can’t understand Leeds’ stance on Augustin, and legal action may come – and he feels sorry for Augustin being put into such a situation.
“The status is unchanged, the legal situation is clear,” said Krosche. “I cannot understand the reasons why Leeds is doing this. When the contracts were made then everyone was in their right mind and conscious. Now it’s our lawyers’ turn. Behind it there is also a player who is a fine boy and who is now in a situation that you don’t want for anyone.”

Additionally, Sportske Novosti report that Leipzig have beaten Leeds to the signing of Dinamo Zagreb defender Josko Gvardiol – and Krosche has commented on the situation.
Krosche hinted that Leipzig are very interested in the teenager, and suggested that major developments will come soon, with Leeds not only set to face an issue with Augustin, but also miss out on Gvardiol.
“He is a very, very interesting, young player who has a lot of potential and is already very advanced for his age and is also interesting for our club. You will see how certain things develop now,” he added to Fussball Transfers.
