Ralf Rangnick says the club are no longer interested in the West Ham talent.

The sporting director of German side RB Leipzig has been discussing his clubs interest in West Ham talent Reece Oxford this week.

The Bundesliga side are, controversially, funded by the energy drink company Red Bull and have not been afraid to spend big on young talent. Nottingham Forest discovered this the hard way when they lost star youngster Oliver Burke in the summer.

This week it was reported that the German side now had their eyes on West Ham’s special prodigy Oxford. The Sunday Mirror reported this week that Leipzig remain interested in signing the West Ham starlet in the near future.

However, Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick has confirmed this week that whilst Oxford has been a target in the past, he no longer is. He is quoted by ESPN as stating:

“We will neither sign him in the winter nor in the summer. He played a role [in RB’s thoughts] once, but that’s a thing of the past.”

West Ham have high hopes for Oxford, who at just 17-years-old has already featured in the first-team on several occasions.

However, he has not been a regular this term and there are fears West Ham risk losing him if he does not become a more regular member of the first-team at the London Stadium in the months to come.

But if he does not become a regular part of West Ham’s plans, it seems Leipzig have also moved on.
