RB Leipzig’s Kevin Kampl spoke to Goal about his former teammate and current Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane.
The duo played together in Austria with RB Leipzig where both of them made a name for themselves.
Mane moved to Southampton in 2014 before jumping ship to Liverpool two years later, where he has been one of the best players in the Premier League.
Kampl’s career has taken him to Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and now RB Leipzig but the Slovenian hasn’t quite had the same success as his former teammate.
However, Kampl still remembers the Liverpool man fondly and has claimed that Mane was his best ever teammate.
He said: “The best team-mate was Sadio Mane during my time at Red Bull Salzburg. He just had everything, the complete package. He was good on the ball, incredibly fast – both with and without the ball.”
“He was dangerous in front of goal and played great passes. It was already seen back then that he could become a really great player.”

Mane won the Golden Boot in the Premier League last season as well as the Champions League with Liverpool. The Senegalese international is very close to winning the Premier League as well and he has been one of the biggest reasons why.
Liverpool have lost just once all season but they had a few scares before. Mane was the Reds’ standout player in a period where they weren’t at their best and he deserves more credit than others if and when they win the league.
Mane has 18 goals and 12 assists to his name in all competitions. He has a good chance of winning the Golden Boot again but he, like every Liverpool fan, is more interested in the Premier League crown in a few weeks’ time.
