Jordan Amavi transfer listed by Aston Villa; West Brom should look to do a deal after cooling Charlie Taylor interest

Jordan Amavi looks set to leave Aston Villa this summer and West Bromwich Albion should make a move for the left-back.

Aston Villa are looking to offload left-back Jordan Amavi. As reported by the Birmingham Mail, the left-back revealed in an interview with French daily the Nice-Matin that he has been placed on the transfer-list.

Amavi moved to Villa Park from Ligue 1 side Nice in the summer of 2015, but endured a torrid first season at the club as they finished bottom of the Premier League.

The 23-year-old made 34 appearances for Villa last season but after they failed to secure promotion back to England’s top tier, it was always likely that Amavi would seek a move to realise his ambitions.

According to the former French U21 inernational, informal discussions have already taken a place regarding a move. He is looking to extend his stay in England and preferably seeks a move to a Premier League club.

There are clubs that have come to enquire and we’ve talked, even if there is nothing concrete yet,” Amavi revealed.

“I love the Premier League, it is the league that I like enough, but I am open to other countries.

“If the sporting challenge is interesting, I will go ahead, I won’t think twice.”

Amavi wants to move back to the Premier League

One club that should seriously consider making a bid for Amavi is Villa’s city rivals West Bromwich Albion. They are currently without a natural left-back in the squad after letting Sebastien Pocognoli move back to Belgium.

The Baggies have been linked with a move for Leeds’ Charlie Taylor to fill this role. According to the Express and Star, the Baggies have shelved plans after failing to agree compensation for Taylor.

Villa will likely demand a higher transfer fee than the potential amount for Taylor. However with Premier League experience already under Amavi’s belt, it may be worth spending more on a player proven that level.

It is not clear whether West Brom will go back in for Taylor but now that Amavi is available and a realistic target, it would be wise to consider the highly-rated Frenchman as the answer to the club’s left-back problems.
