New Derby boss Gary Rowett has certainly made an impression at Pride Park, and he has written himself into the club’s history books.
Following his side’s dramatic 2-1 victory at his former side Birmingham City, Rowett has now won three and drawn one of his opening four league games since taking charge in March. This is the best record by any previous Derby County manager in their 129-year history.
Derby’s triumph at St. Andrews was their third victory in eight days following on from impressive back-to-back home wins over Queens Park Rangers and Fulham.
The Rams have looked like a transformed side since Rowett took over from previous Derby manager Steve McClare, and the possibility of them snatching a place in this season’s play-offs is now no longer out of the question.
His appointment proved a popular choice at the outset. Rowlett became Derby’s fifth manager in less than two years and, even though it is still early days, it seems as if Rowett and Derby are a perfect fit.
Derby fans will be dreaming of their side pulling off what seemed like an impossible task in making this season’s play-offs. And if they are to extend their season through to the play-off lottery, you wouldn’t back against Rowett’s rejuvenated Rams going the whole way.
