Willie Miller has praised Scott Arfield for his ‘razor sharp’ reactions during Rangers’ come-from-behind win at Aberdeen. The substitute scored twice to inspire a dramatic 3-2 result.
Michael Beale faced the Gers’ first Premiership defeat to the Dons since 2016 in his second game in charge this Tuesday. But Arfield struck twice in stoppage time to flip the scoreline in the Glasgow outfit’s favour. The 34-year-old had not offered a league goal since August.

Arfield poked the ball past Kelle Roos on 95’ and 97 minutes to stun Aberdeen who had led Rangers since the 53rd. Luis Lopes (45’) and Leighton Clarkson hit home to give the Dons a lead following Fashion Sakala (12’) breaking the deadlock. But Aberdeen could not hold on.

It was not until Clarkson unleashed a rocket that Beale introduced Arfield with Ben Davies, Scott Wright and John Lundstram in a quadruple switch. Yet the new Gers boss would have to wait for an equaliser. Arfield did come close to scoring as Roos parried his volley away.
Eventually, though, the Dons broke under the endless pressure that the Gers applied. Roos could only parry a 25-yard drive from Ryan Kent to Arfield to score. He would then bundle the ball over from six yards out to clinch the points and keep Beale’s unbeaten start intact.

Willie Miller hailed Scott Arfield for his first goal in Rangers’ win at Aberdeen
Former Aberdeen defender Miller hailed Arfield for the midfielder’s quick reactions to net Rangers’ second goal to equalise on BBC Sportsound. The 34-year-old was first to react as Roos spilt Kent’s drive to bag his first Premiership goal in 13 appearances since August.
“It’s a great strike from Kent but Roos should do better,” Miller said. “Arfield is razor sharp but Roos should be getting that wide. Instead, it’s right in Arfield’s path.”
Arfield only had a bit-part role in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s plans at Ibrox this season and is again under Beale. The 19-cap Canada international has started just five of his 17 outings in the Premiership so far this term. He has also not laid on an assist since scoring in August.
The Livingston native started the campaign promisingly with two goals and an assist in his first three Premiership appearances. But Arfield’s influence at the top of the pitch has not been as fruitful as it proved to be as the midfielder secured Rangers the win at Aberdeen.
