Tottenham Hotspur are set to finish second behind Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

Ray Wilkins has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 16th May, that Tottenham Hotspur won’t win the Premier League next season.

Spurs have challenged both Leicester City and Chelsea in the last two seasons for honours.

However, Wilkins can only see Tottenham going backwards next campaign, as he feels their rivals will strengthen so much this summer.

“This year was such a big year for Tottenham to win the title,” Wilkins said. “I don’t see it next year, because everybody is going to reinforce massively.”

The likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are expected to invest heavily in their squads this summer.

Yet, Spurs have left both of them behind this season – with Mauricio Pochettino’s side surpassing many peoples’ expectations.

Tottenham do have the added complication of playing their home games at Wembley next term, which could have a detrimental impact on their form.

Spurs have gone unbeaten at White Hart Lane this season, which has been the foundation behind their success.

Despite Pochettino’s side’s sustained brilliance this season, they are still currently seven points behind Chelsea in the title race.
