Would Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam be a good signing for Aston Villa?
Former Rangers and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ray Wilkins suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 19, 2017) that Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam would be a good signing for Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Adam has been at Premier League club Stoke since 2012 and is an important player for the Potters.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Adam’s current deal with Stoke runs out in June 2017, but the Scotland international recently told The Herald that he still has a year left on his contract.
Former Villa assistant manager Wilkins believes that Adam would be a good signing for the Villans.
“Well, Charlie will be needed,” said Wilkins about Adam on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 19, 2017).
“Just down the road, if you think, you have got Aston Villa which might not be a bad shout for Charlie, come sit in the middle of that midfield and run that for them.”
Villa could do with a midfielder like Adam, as that would enhance their chances of winning promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
However, there is no reason for the 31-year-old to leave an established Premier League club to move to a team in the Championship.
