Romelu Lukaku’s agent, Mino Raiola, told talkSPORT last week that the Everton striker will sign a new contract with the club. Lukaku’s current deal with the Toffees until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Lukaku is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and is a key player for Everton. If the Belgium international decides to commit his long-term future to the Toffees, then the fans will certainly be happy.

Former Rangers and Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins has given his take on the situation. Wilkins has asked why Lukaku himself does not clarify his future.

“Do you know what really makes me chuckle?” said Wilkins on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, February 10). “Lukaku’s agent is hinting that he might stay. Let’s hear from Romelu: what do you want to do?”

Lukaku has scored 16 goals and created 33 chances in 24 Premier League appearances for Everton so far this season.

During the 2015-16 campaign, the former Chelsea striker found the net 18 times and created 51 chances in 37 league matches for the Toffees.

Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 25 matches.

The Toffees will return to action on February 25 when they take on Sunderland at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
