Should Manchester United’s Michael Carrick join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window?

Former Rangers and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ray Wilkins suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 19, 2017) that Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick should join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
Carrick has been on the books of United since 2006 and is one of the best midfielders to have ever played in the Premier League.

During his time at Old Trafford, the former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has won the Premier League title five times, and the FA Cup and the Champions League once each.
The 35-year-old is still playing well, but the England international’s current contract with United runs out in June 2017, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Former Chelsea and United midfielder Wilkins believes that Carrick should move to Newcastle in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies will play in the Premier League during the 2017-18 campaign after winning automatic promotion from the Championship this season.
“He should go to Newcastle, play in from of 55,000 week in week out,” said Wilkins about Carrick on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 19, 2017).
While Carrick would be a good signing for Newcastle, the problem is that the midfielder was quoted as saying by Football365 in April that he does not plan to play for any English club when he leaves United.
