Aston Villa are currently six points away from the play off places.
Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 24th October, that he believes Aston Villa could make it into the play offs this season.
Villa started the season in poor form, and they won just one of their first 11 Premier League matches.
Their terrible opening to the campaign ultimately cost Roberto Di Matteo his job, and Villa have moved to appoint Steve Bruce instead.
Bruce has started well at the claret and blues, and he has helped them take seven points from his first three matches in charge.
Villa first drew with Wolverhampton Wanderers, before picking up wins against Reading and Fulham.
And Wilkins now believes that Villa have a chance of making it into the top six.
“I think we have seen in years gone by that there will be one team that makes one hell of a surge, that could be Villa,” Wilkins, who used to work as assistant manager at Villa, said. “Steve has done exceptionally well since he’s been there, so I expect Villa to put in a charge.”
Villa are currently six points away from the play off spots, so they have ground to make up if they are to get into promotion contention.
Bruce’s side’s next outing will also be a major test of their desire, as they take on Birmingham City at St. Andrews in what looks set to be a fierce derby match.
