Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are currently nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 31st October, that it is going to take Glasgow Rangers at least two years before they can compete for the Scottish Premiership title.
Rangers were tipped to compete with Celtic for the top flight title in their first season back in the Premiership by many observers at the start of the new campaign.

However, Rangers have struggled to live up to expectations this season.
Mark Warburton’s side are currently in second place in the Scottish Premiership table, but they are already nine points behind Celtic.
The Bhoys also have a game in hand over the Ibrox side, and Wilkins does not feel that it is realistic to expect Warburton’s men to challenge their capital rivals yet.

“I think [it will take] a good couple of years [for Rangers to challenge Celtic],” Wilkins said.
“It will take a lot of windows for Mark to build a squad which is capable of competing. It needs patience. They are a bit behind Celtic, in terms of quality.”
Rangers did win their last match 3-0 against Kilmarnock, in what was arguably their best performance of the campaign.
The Light Blues are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Ross County.
