Tottenham Hotspur are due to meet Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Ray Wilkins has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT, that he believes Tottenham Hotspur’s chances against Arsenal could rest with Harry Kane being fit.
Kane has been out for well over a month for Spurs, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled for goals without their star striker.
Tottenham have found the back of the net just three times in their last six matches, but Kane is almost back to fitness again.
The 22-year-old forward has been back in training this week, as he searches to get back to full health.
And Wilkins believes that Kane’s availability could be the decisive factor in deciding who wins the North London derby.
“If Kane isn’t fit, I give Arsenal a massive chance to beat Spurs,” Wilkins said. “If Harry is fit, he’ll be itching to get back and he has a great record against Arsenal.”
Tottenham head into the derby match in poor form, after failing to win any of their last six matches.
Arsenal, meanwhile, should be full of confidence after a strong run of results.
The Gunners are unbeaten since an opening day defeat to Liverpool, and currently have a three point advantage over Spurs in the Premier League table.
