Ross Barkley scored Everton’s second goal during their 2-0 victory over West Ham United.
Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 31st October, that he believes that Everton boss Ronald Koeman’s treatment of Ross Barkley has been excellent.
Koeman publicly criticised Barkley earlier this season, after the attacking midfielder’s form dropped.
The Dutch boss then took the 22-year-old out of his Everton first-team, and picked other options over him.
Koeman’s response to Barkley’s dip in form appears to have inspired the England international, who put in his finest performance of the season so far during the Toffees’ 2-0 win against West Ham United at the weekend.
Barkley scored Everton’s second goal in the contest, with a fine finish.
And Wilkins said: “It’s evident that Ronald Koeman gave him a wind-up. He left him out of the side, he pulled him off and spoke about him not reaching the heights he should reach.
“Barkley is extremely talented. It’s good to see him back on a bit of form.
“He has to get reproducing that. The way that Ronald has treated him has been first class.”
Barkley’s goal against West Ham United was his first for Everton in the Premier League this season.
The Toffees’ win at Goodison Park yesterday, has lifted them up to sixth in the Premier League table and ended their four-game wait for a victory.
